First try if this issue occurs when you logon with another user; it might be some profile corruption. Then use SFC to check whether some system file was altered. If this does not resolve the issue, use the clean boot procedure to determine any conflicting software. You should also consider using system restore to revert you computer's settings to a snapshot where everything worked. MCP/MCSA/MCTS/MCITP

OMG! Are you serious?! I looked through the instructions, and it looks like it would take me all day to troubleshoot this. If I had that kind of time to fix windows components, I'd be in an IT position. How about reverting back to a version of paint that works, or just making the new version work by the time it's released? Gah! sorry for the rant, but it's so frustrating that Microsoft thinks users want, or have the time to fix things that should work by default. I'm going back to win xp. win 7 is vista with shiny, cheap plastic cladding.

Hi, Is this saving problem happens to all the programs? Or only Paint 6.1? Is there anything special happen before you get this problem, like installing some software? I recommend you use Clean Boot as following to see if the issue persists. Note:If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We strongly recommend that you do not use the System Configuration utility to modify the advanced boot options on the computer unless a Microsoft support engineer directs you to do this. Doing this might make the computer unusable. Hope it can help you!
